    Event

    IIAS School of Management has successfully hosted and conducted the third edition of IIAS

    Chess Championship. Students from Std I to Std XII (divided in three age groups) and senior players beyond XII participated in the Open Group. In total 173 chess champs battled it out throughout the day. Chess buffs from all over Bengal, Nepal, Bihar and Sikkim participated in the competition.

    This year the prize money for the Open Group was to the tune of Rs. 20100/-. Trophies were awarded to the students from Std I to Std XII and certificates to all participants. The competition opened at 10 am and ended at 8 pm, followed by the presentation ceremony. This year Mr. Pralay Kanti Chakraborty, General Manager, Uttar Banga Sambad, Dr. Angshuman Chatterjee, Director, IIAS School of Management and Mr. Bablu Talukdar, President, Darjeeling District Chess Association (DDCA) were the dignitaries who had handed over the prizes to the winners. The champions were: Group A Std I to Std IV --- (1st) Parambrata Sarkar; (2nd) Ankit Das; (3rd) Somarjya Sarkar Group B Std V to Std VIII --- (1st)Ryan Gelek; (2nd) Swapnabha Neogi; (3rd) Triparno Ghosh Group C Std IX to Std XII --- (1st) Srinjoy Sarkar; (2nd) Rajarshi Das;(3rd) Sarbadrito Mukherjee Open Group: (1st)Rounak Guha Roy; (2nd) Samyak Dharewa; (3rd) Rajan Subedi
