Internship (Industrial Training) Programme including Retail Internship
Internships or Industrial Training placements are Programmes that allow
students to gain practical (hands-on) work experience and academic credit at
the same time. These are supervised Programmes of work and study which
involve students working in different areas applying skills and knowledge
obtained in the course of their studies.
An internship is considered a para-professional or pre-professional
experience which gives the student an opportunity to apply knowledge from
the classroom in an employment setting consistent with the students’ choice
of career field. Internships may be paid or unpaid, but the students gain
valuable work experience and the opportunity to see and be seen by possible
future employers. Internship placements are usually for periods of 1 – 3
months and it is compulsory for the students to go on internship as required
from time to time during their course.
- IIAS provides guidance in the preparation of personal CVs of the
students. Detailed guidelines regarding training requirements and
performance are briefed to the students.
- Internship performance of each student placed is monitored in
coordination with the trainer of the organization.
- Assistance to each student during their training period.
- Students are required to submit comprehensive assessment report on
completion of their internship.
