BHILAI - THE STEEL CITY
Bhilai is the second-largest city in Chhattisgarh, India with a population
of 553,837 (2001 census}. The city is located 22 km west of the capital
Raipur on the Howrah-Mumbai rail line, and National Highway 6.
The town is famous for the Bhilai Steel Plant, one of the largest in the
world. Nearby mines, connected to the steel plant by specially built rail
lines, supply it with iron ore, dolomite, and manganese. Some of the steel
products manufactured by Bhilai Steel plant are: railway sleepers, rails,
construction materials, and other steel products. Other factories in Bhilai
produce chemicals, acids, and gases.
It is famous for Iron & Steel Plant. It is the only steel city of
Chhattisgarh State. It is famous for technical tourism.
The populace of the steel city of Bhilai is highly academically oriented and is a centre of a cluster of reputed institutions. The cosmopolitan and education friendly environment of Bhilai offers ample cultural and recreational opportunities.

THE INSTITUTE
Situated in the heart of the steel city housing the prestigious Bhilai steel Plant that has won several excellence awards, IIAS Bhilai has the patronage of the Chhattisgarh Tourism board for conducting the Food festivals and carnivals and pioneering to change the outlook of the students of Bhilai and Chhattisgarh in considering hospitality as a lucrative option to build careers.
The Bhilai campus was first established in July 2003. It was earlier
situated in Chauhan Estate, G.E. road, Supela.
IIAS Bhilai, has moved their campus to Adharshila, Nehru Nagar (East) on the 9th of September 2006 with the General Manager of Chhattisgarh Tourism Board, Mr. P. Sen Bhowmick doing the honours in Inaugurating the new premise.
